Our History
League of Women Bassplayers, known as LOW B, began in June, 2019 as a social media chat group of women bass players, mostly orchestral musicians and university professors. From our online discussions, we realized a need to organize on a more formal level, an association that would support the work of women bassists as artists in our society. Incorporated in 2021 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, LOW B, is a world-wide charitable membership organization of like-minded artists in the bass world who are committed to the creation and promotion of competent technicians, intelligent leaders, and articulate activists by way of fellowship, performances, publications, scholarships, and special events that center perspective on women. A 6-month membership is included with registration for the Inaugural Conference, January 12-15, 2023.
